  • The previous record was 540 robots, which was set in February 2016
  • This year, 1,007 robots were able to dance in a synchronised routine
  • The robots were controlled simultaneously by a mobile phone

The unbelievable sight looks like something from a sci-fi film as more than 1,000 bots bop in unison

Robots are being programmed to perform human tasks and functions, but as this footage shows, they're pretty good at some of them.
This brilliant footage shows 1,007 robots setting a new Guinness world record for the most robots dancing simultaneously.
The little red and white machines have been programmed to wave their arms in the air like they just don't care - and they also bend their knees and bob up and down.
Filmed at the Qingdao Beer Festival in Shandong, China, the robots had human helpers from Ever Win Company to make sure they shimmied their way to a new world record on August 1.
Tech has offered a whole new realm of world record opportunities, with many robot records being set in the last 10 years.
And China's been pretty good at getting to the records first.
The longest chain of robots consisted of 255 four legged bots assembled on the same day by the students of the Lingnan Dr Chung Wing Kwong Memorial Secondary School in Hong Kong, China on November 26, 2006.
The first restaurant with robot waiting staff was also in China, opened in July 2006 in Hong Kong.
Robot Kitchen opened with two robot staff members capable of taking orders from customers and delivering their meals to them.
Other robot records include Japan's first robot babysitter - the Papero Childcare robot specially adapted with camera 'eyes' and the first robot sommelier, also in Japan - a 'wine-bot which fires an infrared beam through the wine and analyses the wavelengths of light absorbed.
