Mr. Oke, dumped the opposition party on Saturday at a meeting held in his residence, SaharaReporters can authoritatively report.
His defection ends widespread speculation by his supporters who have
been gunning for new platform after the former All Progressives
governorship candidate lost in the primary that was held on September
3rd, 2016 in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
SaharaReporters learned that Mr. Oke stated during the meeting that
his reason for leaving the opposition party was to pursue his
governorship ambition on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy
(AD).
Mr. Oke, who has several times been alleged of “too desperate” in his
ambition to come the next governor of the state, said his decision to
join the Alliance for Democracy (AD) was after a wide consultation with
his supporters.
“Having giving me the support to go ahead in this new journey, I
hereby declared officially that I have joined the gubernatorial race in
pursuant of my ambition to be the governor in the forthcoming
governorship election of our dear Ondo state”, he said during the
meeting.
Sources at the meeting told SaharaReporters correspondent that Mr.
Oke has been given an “automatic ticket” of his new party as the
governorship candidate in the November poll.
“Mr. Olusola Oke has again jumped ship from the All Progressives
Congress (APC) for the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and he will be
contesting as the gubernatorial candidate of his new party in the
November governorship election”, a source said in a chat with
SaharaReporters.
