Oshiomhole built hospital instead of govt house – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, for sacrificing his personal comfort to provide essential services to the citizens of the state.
President Buhari spoke during the commissioning of the new Central Hospital in Benin, the state capital, as part of his two-day official visit to Edo.
Other projects commissioned by the President are the Upper Siluko road and the Samuel Ogbemudia College (formerly New Era College, while he also inspected the reclaimed Queen Ede Erosion site in Benin.
He said that the effort put into the realisation of the project by the state government was the best thing to do, as it was better than building a new government house.

He, however, expressed hope that the new health facility would not ‎only discourage medical tourism but ensure that the masses received better health care services.
Buhari said, “I am very impressed with this work (hospital). I respect his (Oshiomhole) sacrifice of his personal comfort.
“Instead of building a government house, he decided to build this hospital. I think it takes courage to do what he did.
“I thank the governor for making his presence in Edo State go into history.”
On his part, Oshiomhole said that the medical facility was a demonstration of his belief that public health care facilities should not be inferior to the ones under by private ownership.
The governor noted that ‎rather than spend huge resources for the benefit of the government and government officials, his administration decided to channel the effort towards the construction of the hospital.
